Here's something interesting I found. I'm not sure when exactly I wrote this, but here's a small dragon short story from a long time ago!
Twisting and turning I struggled to find a comfortable position in my egg thus finding none I settled for where I was with my big scaly head resting at an uncomfortable angle. I sighed, letting the swirling gray smoke puff out of my nostrils. I choked as the smoke filled my small space. Angrily I writhed in my shell again but soon grew tired of that. A few more days, I told myself, then I could spread my wings wide and shatter the thin shell separating me from the world I longed for. I sensed something in the distance. I sat still holding my breath. It slowly advanced toward me stepping cautiously in the sand. It was alone. I could sense mixed feelings emanating from it: wonder, fear, excitement! It slowly approached me I could hear it breathing softly. It was a human! Carefully they reached out and placed a palm on the shell. And then I knew. I understood. This was my rider. I took a deep breath soaking in the presence of my chosen rider. Swiftly the palm drew back and they raced off into the night which lead me to wonder, why? I sniffed trying to get a whiff of scent from my rider but they were already gone… I sighed again as I settled down as comfortably as was possible in the cramped space. The other dragon babies were awakened by the presence of the human. I heard them in my head as all dragons could. They chirped their confusion making my mind a terrible mess angrily I grunted sending them all a telepathic warning for them to stop. I was just as confused as they but we’d soon figure it out they would just have to wait.
